Esta instalación de sitio específico fue realizada en la sala de calderas abandonada de un edificio ubicado junto al río Mapocho en la ciudad de Santiago de Chile.
La premisa de trabajo fue volver a hervir agua en la que originalmente fuera la sala de calderas responsable de dar calefacción al edificio durante más de 40 años. Hoy abandonada hace ya 20. Este trabajo se propuso habitar y funcionar en dicho espacio utilizando elementos cotidianos y recolectados en el lugar y sus cercanías. Un refrigerador dado de baja que se adaptó con una olla sellada con masa de trigo donde se hervían hojas de eucalipto recolectadas del cerro más cercano cuyo vapor salía por chimeneas de tubos de aspiradora impregnando todo el lugar hasta la entrada del edificio. Luminarias de bicicleta tintineaban con señales de precaución. Dentro del contenedor se alojaron residuos y viejos documentos abandonados en el lugar. La maquinaria fue trabajada por un operador que se encargaba de todos sus detalles técnicos y de sociabilizarla con los espectadores. El trabajo era una máquina precaria y sin sentido aparente que proponía la experiencia estética del funcionamiento en un contexto ruinoso. Su atracción era precisamente su función, su aparataje y su inutilidad.
Formó parte de una curatoría colectiva en torno a un ejercicio de sitio específico.

This site-specific installation was made in the abandoned boiler room of a building located by the Mapocho River in the city of Santiago de Chile.
The working premise was to reboil water in what was originally the boiler room responsible for heating the building for over 40 years. Today it has been abandoned for 20 years. This work aimed to live and work in that space using everyday elements collected in the place and its surroundings. A decommissioned refrigerator was adapted with a sealed pot of wheat dough where eucalyptus leaves collected from the nearest hill were boiled and their vapor came out through chimneys of vacuum tubes impregnating the whole place until the entrance of the building. Bicycle lights tinkled with warning signs. Inside the container, waste and old documents abandoned on the site were stored. The machinery was worked on by an operator who was in charge of all the technical details and of socializing it with the spectators. The work was a precarious machine with no apparent meaning that proposed the aesthetic experience of operating in a ruinous context. Its attraction was precisely its function, its apparatus and its uselessness.
It was part of a collective curatorship around a site-specific exercise.
